MS Dhoni opts out of Ranji Trophy

At a time when almost every Indian cricketer is gearing up for the important series against England by playing domestic matches, captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has surprised everyone by opting out for Jharkhand's Ranji Trophy match against Jammu and Kashmir.  

Giving domestic cricket a miss is nothing new for Dhoni, who has not played a single game for his home side Jharkhand in the last five years. 

However, it's the reason that Dhoni gave for missing the game which is most surprising. 

The Indian skipper said he was suffering from cold and cough which promoted him to request the selectors not considered him for selection.
