Ottis Gibson, the West Indies coach has said that he is happy with the West Indies performance in the practice game against an Uttar Pradesh XI. West Indies had a practice game at Kolkata ahead of the first Test against India at the Eden Gardens.

PTI quoted Gibson, ""Chris (Gayle), who did not score much runs in the first innings, got some time in the middle today and started to look really good. Marlon Samuels too spent some time in the middle this afternoon. Bowlers had a good run, so all in all it was a good exercise."

"We've not played Test cricket or four-day cricket for a long time. So it was good for us to have a practice match here before the Test series. It gives us an understanding of what's going to happen next week and what we need to do as an bowling attack."
