Ravi Shastri has conveyed his greetings to his country via Twitter on the occassion of India’s Independence Day. Team India is currently in Colombo in his role as the Indian Cricket Team’s team director. The team is currently engaged in a three-match Test series against the hosts and are in the driver’s seat ahead of Day Four of the first Test against them, needing just 153 runs to win with nine wickets to spare. The Indian public is keen for their team to score an iconic away win on occassion of the day of national significance.

 

Shastri, in his baritone voice said, “Well, we are sitting in Colombo, but our eyes are on India as well and (on the occassion of) 15th of August, we wish all you Indians on behalf of the Indian cricket team a happy Independence Day.” The message was conveyed via Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) official Twitter handle.

The Indian players will surely take the field on Day Four of the First Test against Sri Lanka at Galle with an extra sense of pride and will be keen to knock off the necessary runs to gift their country a remarkable and iconic away victory. Sri Lanka will go hard at India nonetheless and if the spinners get assistance and hit the right rhythm, things could get tricky for the men in blue.
