A court in New Delhi has sent Indian pacer S Sreesanth to Tihar jail for judicial custody till June 4 on Tuesday despite Delhi Police's request for a two-day extension.

Rejecting Ankeet Chavan's plea, Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Lokesh Kumar Sharma said: "Social sentiments have no place… I don't deem it appropriate to admit him to regular or interim bail."

Sreesanth, alongwith two of his Rajasthan Royals' teammates Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan, was arrested on suspicion of his alleged involvement in spot-fixing scandal during Indian Premier League 2013.
