S Sreesanth’s bail plea adjourned till June 10
S Sreesanth’s bail plea has been adjourned till Monday, June 10 by Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) on Friday. A Delhi court was to hear the former Rajasthan Royals player's fresh bail application on Friday.
The prosecution had invoked the MCOCA on Tuesday against Sreesanth and his three Rajasthan teammates Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan. The trio was arrested on May 16 by the Delhi police for their alleged involvement in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2013 spot-fixing controversy.
Once the MCOCA is invoked it becomes a non-bailable charge. It is one of the most stringent laws. Under this charge the police can get custody of the accused for about 30 days, reports CNN IBN.
