Australia toured India in 2013 for four Test Border-Gavaskar series. The first Test was held at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. Australia won the toss and chose to bat. Riding on Michael Clarke's 130 in the first innings, Australia put on a score of 380. In reply, India scored 572, as MS Dhoni scored his highest Test score — 225, and Virat Kohli scored 107. Australia could manage only 241, as Ravichandran Ashwin picked up five wickets. India needed 50 runs to win. Despite chasing a small target of 50, India lost Murali Vijay and Virender Sehwag. Sachin Tendulkar then came to the field. Batting with Cheteshwar Pujara at the other end, Tendulkar was facing Nathan Lyon. When Tendulkar came to bat, India needed 14 runs to win. Facing Lyon, Tendulkar smashed the first two deliveries for consecutive sixes. India wrapped up the match by the 12th over and the led the four-match series 1-0. Ultimately, India won the series 4-0.
