Former Sri Lankan skipper and opening batsman Sanath Jayasuriya on Thursday stated that Sri Lankan cricket is definitely going through a transition phase, owing to the mass retirement of big guns like Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene, and Tillakaratne Dilshan, and it would be really difficult for Sri Lanka to find a suitable replacement for these players, as they had been the backbone of the Lankan team for the past 15-16 years. He also said that he took a big gamble of bringing in some inexperienced players in the side for the Australia series at home, which eventually paid off, and he was happy for it.
