Shikhar Dhawan was out for a golden duck on the opening day of India’s three-day tour match against Essex in Chelmsford on Wednesday. He was out in the very first over of the day, off the third delivery, edging one from Matt Coles to walk back without disturbing the scoreboard.
However, soon after he was dismissed, the left-handed opener posted a video of himself on Twitter showing him working on his batting. The video, shot from different angles, showed him working on his straight drives which was accompanied by a caption, “Nothing sounds more sweeter than the whack of a cricket ball.”

Nothing gives you more goosebump than getting out for duck in the very first innings in a trial match

He might have failed with the bat even as others around him, with the exception of Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane, found themselves among the runs. Dinesh Karthik, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and Murali Vijay hit half-centuries to push India to 322/6 by the close of play on Day 1.
