Australia began their Ashes 2013 tour with a warm-up match against Somerset on June 26. Somerset won the toss and elected to bat in the four-day match in Taunton.

Somerset were bowled out for 320 in 86.1 overs by the Australians. At one stage Somerset were at 304/2. Chris Jones top-scored with 130, while Nick Compton scored 81 runs and James Hildreth scored 66 runs.

Mitchell Starc and James Pattinson were the pick of the bowlers as they took four wickets-a-piece. Left-arm pacer James Faulkner and right-arm off-spinner Nathan Lyon took one wicket each.

In reply, the Michael Clarke-led side were at 2/0 at stumps with Shane Watson and Ed Cowan at the crease.
