Australia began their Ashes 2013 tour with a warm-up match against Somerset on June 26. Somerset won the toss and elected to bat in the four-day match in Taunton.

Somerset were bowled out for 320 in 86.1 overs by the Australians. At one stage Somerset were at 304 for two. Chris Jones top-scored with 130, while Nick Compton scored 81 runs and James Hildreth scored 66 runs.

In reply, the Michael Clarke-led side were at 266 for four at stumps with Brad Haddin and Philip hughes at the crease.

Shane Watson top-scored for Australia with a brilliant 90.

Craig Meschade was the pick of the bowlers for Somerset as he scalped two wickets for 55 runs.
