It looks like that pressure is not only on BCCI president N Srinivasan but also on the Union Sports Minister Jitendra Singh. Today the sports ministry rejected the reports that it was in favour of legalising betting to curb corruption in sports. The ministry has also asked Srinivasan to step down on moral ground.

Singh had said that all the states have agreed to a model law suggested by the centre to tackle the menace of betting and match-fixing that has rocked Indian cricket.

tressing on the need to have uniform sports law in the country, the minister said, "there is a need for good governance, cleansing of sports and bringing transparency in the working of Sports Federations.
