England came out after lunch in a decent position, 37 runs ahead but they lost their skipper pretty early on in the session.

Things got worse for England in the very next over. Neil Wagner producing a beauty bowl to set Nick Compton stumps flying. He was dismissed for 15.

Those two wickets in the space of 12 balls left England rocking a little but Jonathan Trott and Joe Root steadied the ship with a unbeaten partnership of 55.

Trott making an watchful 25 not out when tea was declared but Root hit a more pacy 28.

A much needed stand for the home side, who ended the second session in a good position on 91 for two, 116 runs ahead against New Zealand.
