India continued to dominate the world No. 1 South Africa in the ongoing four-match Test series, as they had yet another day replete with domination at Bengaluru. After winning the toss, India took the brave decision of bowling first, made interesting changes to their team composition, and backed them up by shooting out South Africa for a paltry 214 in the first innings. This was not all, when it was their turn to bat, Indian openers Shikhar Dhawan and Murali Vijay put the disappointments of Mohali behind them and took their side to 80 for no loss at stumps on the first day. India trail by further 134 runs and a strong batting show can be expected from the hosts, given the fact that the pitch remains conducive for batting for those who show discipline and application.
