The left-handed batsman was dropped from the West Indies squad for the upcoming The Frank Worrell Trophy 2015 against Australia, following his poor form. In his last 11 innings, Chanderpaul has not been able to get as many runs as he and the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) would have liked.

Having a poor average of only 16, Chanderpaul was axed from the side which sparked a controversy in the Caribbean cricket. Former cricketer Brian Lara censured the WICB for not treating Chanderpaul properly, saying that cricketers like him should get at least a farewell series before they are being axed.
