Martin Guptill will look to move further away from the pain of ending second best in the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup final when he returns to duty for New Zealand this weekend, when the first T20I against Sri Lanka is played at Pallekele.

Sunday’s T20I will be the first game Guptill plays for the Black Caps since he was run out in the Super Over that followed the World Cup final tie at Lord’s on July 14.

Speaking to the Black Caps website, Guptill spoke about his post World Cup experience playing T20 cricket for Worcestershire, his reflections on the World Cup final and the whole tournament, experience of playing in Sri Lanka and the conditions and how he’s excited to get back to New Zealand and play in front of home crowds.

New Zealand begin their three-game T20I series against Sri Lanka at the Pallekele Cricket Stadium in Kandy on Sunday.
