Former secretary of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Jaywant Lele has backed the right-hand Indian batsman Virat Kohli to lead the team to glory in the ongoing tri-series in West Indies. Kohli made his official debut as the captain of Indian cricket team in the match against Sri Lanka.

BCCI Secretary Sanjay Patel in a statement said, "Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been ruled out of the ongoing tri-series in the West Indies, due to a hamstring injury.

"The All-India Senior Selection Committee has picked Ambati Rayudu as his replacement in the squad. Rayudu will join the team at the earliest.

"Virat Kohli will lead India in the remainder of the tri-series."
