England batsman Ian Bell was delighted to start the West Indies Test series with a century (143) and help England to a commanding position at the end of day one in Antigua (341-5). The middle order stroke-maker was involved in century stands with Joe Root (83) and Ben Stokes (71*) as England piled on the runs after being put into bat in the Caribbean heat, following the loss of three early wickets at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium. Bell also paid tribute to the travelling army of England fans and their fantastic support. Earlier, West Indies skipper, Denesh Ramdin ahd won the toss and and put England to bat first.
