Aiden Markramc Josh Inglis b Ben Dwarshuis 82 81 9 0 101.23
23.3
Ben Dwarshuis to Aiden Markram, OUT! EDGED AND GONE! CAUGHT BEHIND! A loose stroke from Markram and Australia get their second wicket! Dwarshuis slams it on a good length and slants it on the off stump with some extra bounce on it. Aiden Markram plays it from the crease as he looks to cut it square on the off side. But he does not account for the bounce and the ball deflects off the outside edge. Dips low to the right of Josh Inglis behind the stumps and he scoops it nicely before the ground. Aiden Markram is disappointed and trudges off after scoring 82 (81) and South Africa are 131/2.
Ryan Rickelton (W)c Marnus Labuschagne b Travis Head 33 43 3 0 76.74
16.5
Travis Head to Ryan Rickelton, OUT! CAUGHT! Travis Head finally gets his man and Ryan Rickelton simply didn't look comfortable against either of the two spinners. Head tosses the ball up outside off and gets it to turn further away. Rickelton decides to step down the track but loses his shape and has to reach out for the lofted shot, but he is nowhere near the pitch of the ball. Rickelton ends up chipping it wide of mid off, where Marnus Labuschagne scampers to his right and dives to take a good catch. Rickelton departs for 33 (43) and the opening stand 92 is finally broken.
Temba Bavuma (C)b Ben Dwarshuis 65 74 5 0 87.84
45.4
Ben Dwarshuis to Temba Bavuma, OUT! TIMBER! A big swing and a miss, might have actually been an inside edge but Temba Bavuma has to depart here. Ben Dwarshuis takes some pace off this delivery and serves it on a fuller length and around off. Bavuma makes room and gets low, trying to fetch and slog it over deep mid-wicket but loses his shape. The ball catches the inside edge and goes back in to crash into the stumps. A timely wicket for Dwarshuis and Australia, and the Proteas skipper departs for 65 (74).
Matthew Breetzkec Aaron Hardie b Adam Zampa 57 56 7 1 101.79
39.5
Adam Zampa to Matthew Breetzke, OUT! CAUGHT! Adam Zampa does get the breakthrough for his side! Zampa tosses this one up on leg stump, slower too and not all that full. Matthew Breetzke sits down to slog sweep but ends up getting a top edge. The ball flies over square leg and it is Aaron Hardie who comes in from the deep, nearly overruns it but adjusts and takes a good reverse cup catch. Breetzke departs for a well-made 57 (56) and that ends a 88-run stand for the 3rd wicket for the Proteas.
Tristan Stubbsc Cameron Green b Travis Head 0 2 0 0 0
40.2
Travis Head to Tristan Stubbs, OUT! GONE! CAUGHT! Second wicket for Travis Head as he gets a big fish, Tristan Stubbs! On a flatter trajectory, quick, full and outside off. Tristan Stubbs tries to loft it behind deep cover, but does not properly get his bat under the ball and goes through the shot. Hits it flat and aerially, but only as far as Cameron Green stationed a few yards inside the boundary. He takes a reverse cup catch around his face and Tristan Stubbs departs for a duck. South Africa are 224/4 down now.
Dewald Brevisc Alex Carey b Travis Head 6 2 0 1 300
40.4
Travis Head to Dewald Brevis, OUT! STRAIGHT UP IN THE AIR AND TAKEN! A six and out for debutant Brevis, and a double whammy for Travis Head as he gets his third wicket! Head dishes out a slower delivery this time around, and keeps it full and wide outside off, getting some dip as well and making Brevis reach for it. Dewald Brevis clears the front leg to create room for himself and, with no intention to keep it along the ground, lofts it over mid on. Gets the elevation, but not the distance, and Alex Carey at long on gobbles up the catch. Dewald Brevis departs on 6 (2) and from 223/2, South Africa have slipped down to 230/5.
Wiaan Muldernot out 31 26 2 1 119.23
Keshav Maharajc Cameron Green b Travis Head 13 12 2 0 108.33
48.3
Travis Head to Keshav Maharaj, OUT! CAUGHT! Travis Head gets a four-fer! Nicely flighted from around the stumps, using the angle well. This is bowled across off stump and Keshav Maharaj goes for the lofted shot. Maharaj doesn't quite get under the ball and ends up lifting it straight down to long off. Cameron Green takes a simple catch in the deep and South Africa are now 7 down for 284.
Prenelan Subrayenrun out (Travis Head) 1 2 0 0 50
48.6
Travis Head to Wiaan Mulder, OUT! RUN OUT! That is ridiculous from Travis Head and he can do no wrong when he's on song, whether it be with bat, ball, or even in the field. Head tosses the ball up, full and straight, Wiaan Mulder leans on and drills the ball to the right of the bowler. Head goes down low to his right on the follow-through and deflects it back onto the stumps from a really acute angle. Prenelan Subrayen did just wander out of his crease and replays show that his bat was in the air when the bails came off.

Travis Headst Ryan Rickelton b Prenelan Subrayen 27 24 6 0 112.5
7.1
Prenelan Subrayen to Travis Head, OUT! STUMPED! Spin does the trick for the Proteas! Prenelan Subrayen goes wide on the crease, and offers flight on the ball. Lands it on a yard behind full length and just around the off stump line off. Seeing the flight, Travis Head gets lured and dances down the track in an attempt to smoke that downtown, but the ball goes straight on and he plays for the spin. It goes past the outside edge and Ryan Rickelton collects it neatly before whipping off the bails. Travis Head departs for 27 (24) and Australia are 60/1. This is the first time Head has been dismissed through a stumping in his entire ODI career.
Mitchell Marsh (C)c Ryan Rickelton b Nandre Burger 88 96 10 0 91.67
36.2
Nandre Burger to Mitchell Marsh, OUT! EDGED AND GONE! CAUGHT BEHIND! Marsh perishes and Australia's last hope is gone now! This has been a brilliant comeback from Nandre Burger after being tonked all around the park in the first spell. A well-directed short ball from him, around off, climbing off the deck. Mitchell Marsh tries to smash the pull, but the ball is a bit too close to the body. Hence, Marsh does not get enough room to access that shot. Ends up getting a thick outside edge and Ryan Rickelton takes a regulation catch behind the stumps. Mitchell Marsh departs for 88 (96), Australia are 174/8. This now, in all fairness, looks a bridge too far for Australia.
Marnus Labuschagnelbw b Keshav Maharaj 1 6 0 0 16.67
8.1
Keshav Maharaj to Marnus Labuschagne, OUT! LBW! Keshav Maharaj strikes in his very first over with a big wicket. He drops it full, around middle and leg, and bowls it a bit slower, which allows the ball to grip and turn. Marnus Labuschagne plays the wrong line and gets completely undone by the spin and bounce, and wears it on the back pad. The finger goes up on the united appeal from the Proteas. Marnus Labuschagne walks up to his captain, and after a long chat, decides to review this one! The Snicko shows no spike on that and the ball tracking shows the ball went onto the hits the top of off. Australia burn their review as the on-field decision stays. Marnus Labuschagne is disappointed as he departs for 1 (6) and from 60/0, Australia have slipped to 61/2.
Cameron Greenb Keshav Maharaj 3 8 0 0 37.5
10.1
Keshav Maharaj to Cameron Green, OUT! TIMBER! Keshav Maharaj is on a roll! Maharaj goes wide on the crease, and pushes through slower, full, and around middle and off. The ball just drifts in, lands, and then turns away to beat the outside edge before crashing onto the off pole, as Cameron Green looks to push that away on the off side, but ends up playing inside the line and hears the death rattle behind him. He departs for 3 (8) and Australia are reduced to 67/3.
Josh Inglis (W)b Keshav Maharaj 5 9 0 0 55.56
12.2
Keshav Maharaj to Josh Inglis, OUT! CASTLED! Keshav Maharaj gets his third one of the night! Bowls it quicker and flatter, from wide of the crease. Josh Inglis hangs back deep into the crease and looks to cut that away, and gets cramped up for space. The ball goes past the blade to rattle off the stumps. Brilliant bowling display from Keshav Maharaj. Josh Inglis departs for 5 (9) and Australia are 75/4.
Alex Careylbw b Keshav Maharaj 0 1 0 0 0
12.3
Keshav Maharaj to Alex Carey, OUT! LBW! Keshav Maharaj has badly dented the Australian middle order here as he picks up his fourth wicket! Stays around the wickets and darts it very full, on the leg stump line. Alex Carey sits down to execute the premeditated paddle sweep, but the ball passes close to the bat and wears on the front boot. A huge, confident shout for LBW and Chris Gaffaney raises his finger up instantly! The Proteas are joyous but Alex Carey, after chatting with Marsh, goes upstairs to review it. Nothing on the Snicko and the Ball Tracking shows the ball to be pitching inside the line of the stumps, and is projected to crash on the off pole. A golden duck for Carey and Australia are 75/5.
Aaron Hardieb Keshav Maharaj 4 10 0 0 40
16.2
Keshav Maharaj to Aaron Hardie, OUT! THROUGH HIS DEFENCE! BOWLED! This is Maharaj's first 5-wicket haul in his ODI career! Keeps it pretty simple, does Maharaj. Drops it full with a good bit of flight and drift on it, around middle and then gets it to turn away from the batter. Aaron Hardie lunges forward and tries to play the initial line, but gets beaten past the outside edge, and the ball smashes the off pole. Maharaj is engulfed by his teammates as he is pumped up! Aaron Hardie departs for 4 (10). Australia are falling apart badly here as they are 89/6, needing another 208 runs.
Ben Dwarshuisc Dewald Brevis b Nandre Burger 33 52 3 0 63.46
32.1
Nandre Burger to Ben Dwarshuis, OUT! CAUGHT! Ben Dwarshuis' fighting innings finally come to an end! Nandre Burger goes into the pitch, cramps Ben for room as he looks to pull that away on the leg side, and finds Dewald Brevis deployed at short mid-wicket, who takes a good catch on his left shoulder. And finally, the resistance offered by this pair has been broken. Ben Dwarshuis departs on 33 (52) and Australia are 160/7 down, needing another 137 runs to win.
Nathan Ellislbw b Lungi Ngidi 14 20 1 1 70
40.2
Lungi Ngidi to Nathan Ellis, OUT! LBW! A huge appeal and given! That seemed to be missing leg to the naked eye but Australia do not have any reviews left and Nathan Ellis has to walk back. Lungi Ngidi brings out the off-cutter, bowling it into the deck and around middle. The ball pitches and nips back in. Ellis is taken aback and looks to pull but the ball stays low and gets hit on the back pad. South Africa are now just one wicket away from sealing the game.
Adam Zampab Lungi Ngidi 11 18 1 0 61.11
40.5
Lungi Ngidi to Adam Zampa, OUT! BOWLED'EM! That's it, done and dusted! Lungi Ngidi brings out another slower ball and bowls it full and on off. Adam Zampa is undone by the trajectory as the ball dips and goes off the inside edge. The ball then crashes into the stumps. South Africa win by 98 runs and Ngidi is elated, so are the Proteas as the tourists take an early lead in this three-match ODI series.
