Sachin Tendulkar was close to retirement in 2013. Late in 2012, he had already quit one-day cricket and some believed it was a matter of time. However expected the call was, it certainly plunged the nation into sadness on October 10, 2013.

Tendulkar said he will feature in his last game for India during the two match Test series against the West Indies. The 40-year-old was to bring an end to a 24-year-long career.
