His List A form has been exceptional over the past few weeks, and with a third century to take his domestic team Titans to the Momentum One-Day Cup title on Sunday, Aiden Markram may have at last booked his ticket to England for the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup.

The South Africa opener’s 127 off 88 balls at Centurion fired Titans to 356/5 in 50 overs, which helped set up a 135-run win over Dolphins.

This is Markram’s third century of the competition and seventh in List A cricket, and tally of 542 runs in five innings at an average of 108.40 and strike-rate of 132.84 may prove irresistible when South Africa’s selection panels sits to pick its World Cup squad later this month.

Markram was recalled to South Africa’s ODI squad last month on the back of his strong Momentum One-Day Cup form and scored 29 and 67 not out against Sri Lanka.

In 18 ODIs, the 24-year-old averages 29.58 with that 67* being his best score.

While a regular in South Africa’s Test team, Markram has been in and out of the ODI squad. He was named captain of South Africa’s ODI team in early 2018 and oversaw the 1-5 series loss to India at home.

The deadline for countries to submit their World Cup squads is April 23.
