Dear Anushka Sharma, I love you. I adore you. I guess my love for you is more than my liking or affection for Virat Kohli. I loved you when you played the bubbly wedding planner in Band Baaja Baaraat and even when you decided to be part of yet another Shahrukh Khan’s romantic movie, despite being the other girl.
But let us face it. Like the rest of the nation, I do not love you anymore. We do not love you because you are in love with the Indian cricket team’s vice-captain. You have emotions and feelings for a man who is probably going to be the next Indian captain and may also lead the nation in the next 2019 Cricket World Cup. We ‘hate’ you because you and your presence in Kohli’s life have made him lose his focus. India vs Australia Semi-Final: Indian innings highlights
How could you? I am sorry that we care a lot when you reach the stadium to cheer for the man whom you will probably marry. Why should you? No other cricketer’s wife ever does! The likes of Anjali Tendulkar, Dona Ganguly or Sakshi Dhoni are seldom seen at stadiums. Did I mention how Mayanti Langer has been staying away from the Indian squad and the whole ICC Cricket World Cup 2015? India vs Australia Semi-Final: Australian innings highlights
Think of others. AB de Villiers’ wife was in South Africa all this while! We might still love you and not remember the time when Kohli scored those centuries in the Test series in Australia a few months back and how he had blown those kisses to you, because you were not the reason why he scored! He scored because some news anchor went on national television to debate whether MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli were having problems before the Australian Test series!
Dear Anushka, you are already a superstar, a lovely woman, who has recently done an amazing movie and is being credited for the amazing performance. You are a famous personality who, by chance or luck, happens to love one of India’s most loving sport star. And you are a woman and you were born in India.
That, Anushka, has probably been your biggest mistake. Do you know what you should do? Be the sanskari beti and stay at your home. Come out of your house only when you need to shoot. You marry or love or cheer for Kohli only when the Indian public approves, because your personal life is not your life at all! It is we, the Indians, who decide when you will love and when you won’t. Till then keep getting blamed, because it is easy being a scapegoat. ICC Cricket World Cup 2015: Complete Coverage
Yours truly,
Another Indian fan.
