The Number 23 is a 2007 American psychological thriller film directed by Joel Schumacher. The film, which was written by Fernely Phillips stars Jim Carrey in the lead role. The film mostly received negative reviews and in fact, Carrey went on to be nominated for the Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Actor at the 2008 edition.
However, this has not stopped MS Dhoni to direct his version of The Number 23. The Hollywood film revolves around a book but Dhoni’s inspiration is not that. On Wednesday, against Bangladesh, in the Asia Cup T20 opener, four of India’s five bowlers bowled their quota of four overs and conceded 23 runs each. Ravindra Jadeja could have been the fifth bowler to join the elite company of Ashish Nehra, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravichandran Ashwin and Hardik Pandya, had he given two runs less in his four overs.
As soon as this news broke out, Dhoni received calls from Shane Warne, Michael Clarke and even David Beckham expressing their interest to be a part of it. These men have famously donned the number in sporting arena but could not communicate well with the Indian skipper due to poor telephonic connectivity in Dhaka.
