Tarot reader Shruti Chopra looks into her cards to give CricketCountry.com readers exclusive insights into what lies ahead in the IPL matches. In the below piece, she dwells into the Chennai Super Kings vs Deccan Chargers game – the only IPL match on Friday.
The Super Kings have all the pieces to their puzzle. The King of Swords shows them to be well planned, the Three of Pentacles makes them stable, mature and creative with their implementation and the Ten of Cups reassures the strength in their team work. The problem arises in their belief. They will show signs of shakiness and will require everyone to step up to the challenge presented by the Deccan Chargers.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni will have a weak start with the bat. Like the Five of Pentacles, he will look uncomfortable and may not score as freely as he is used to. It will be important for him to remain mentally strong and see out this phase. The Seven of Pentacles is a glimmer of run making hope for him. In his captaincy, he will be stable, strong and will look to concentrate on getting the basics right.
Key players
Suresh Raina, like the Nine of Cups, carries the danger of getting too comfortable with his successes during the match. Complacency can undo his hard work.
Dwayne Bravo will have the potential to build an important innings and give a strong all round performance. He should be a bit more watchful for when he starts off.
Francois du Plessis will provide stability and aggression to a strong batting partnership. A valuable player today.
Ben Hilfenhaus, like the Ace of Swords, will be fresh, and ready to re-energise the team. He should be careful of leaking away too many runs in the second half of his spell.
Michael Hussey will feel the burden of expectations initially, but will manage to take this in his stride. The High Priestess does promise his potential being an important benefit for the team.
Shadab Jakati will be miserly in giving away runs. He will have a strong day and show his ability to bring about important breakthroughs.
The Deccan Chargers, like the Knight of Cups and Eight of Pentacles, are looking more confident. Although they do have concerns of not showcasing their abilities to potential, they will try and fight this. The Strength card does encourage them to push on ahead, be calculative and play a hard game. They will have a good all round performance.
Kumar Sangakkara will bat well in a partnership and like the Six of Swords will be able to steer his team in the right direction. He will be able to display a lot of his potential and will enjoy doing so. As a captain, he will grow in confidence and belief in his team players by handing them key responsibilities. He will delegate his team well.
Key players
Dale Steyn will be confident and strong. The Page of Wands shows him being able to aggressively contain the opposition.
Parthiv Patel should be played today as he can provide the team with an ideal start and be able to grab on to unexpected opportunities like the Four of Cups.
JP Duminy, like the Magician, will have all the tools to succeed, but will need to use them with patience, otherwise he will give away the advantage gained.
Shikhar Dhawan will seem confused and will need to direct his aggression better. The Ace of Cups does show some positivity, but this is looking short lived.
Cameron White will start off balanced and strong, but won’t be able to sustain this and may be too edgy to do justice to his start.
Amit Mishra will be well planned, but will need to be more pro-active with the implementation.
