Tarot reader Shruti Chopra looks into her cards to give CricketCountry.com readers exclusive insights into what lies ahead in the IPL matches. In the below piece, she dwells into the Rajasthan Royals vs Deccan Chargers game – the first of the two IPL matches on Tuesday.

Rajasthan Royals

A strong and adaptable Rajasthan Royals will work towards playing a stable game. Like the Seven of Swords, they need to be watchful of trying to juggle too many plans, rather than being focused on one plan at a time. Their bowling should keep them strong, but they will need to pick up on their fielding and be more pro-active; they will need to attack more. Their batting should have a good day, if they play with a strong plan in mind. As a team they will play well in unison.

As a batsman, Rahul Dravid will feel a little uncertain, and it will be important for him to play a more stable innings. In his captaincy, he will be hungry for success, but his focus will need to improve if he needs to implement his plans more successfully.

Key players:

Ajinkya Rahane will be handed another opportunity to play well, which he should build upon, rather than being too aggressive initially.

Pankaj Singh will have a strong start and will be able to build foundations for the team. His bowling spell may end a little weak.

Ashok Menaria will need to play a more stable and sensible innings by not being too impulsive, otherwise, as suggested by the Tower card, he may not be able to hold an impact on the game.

Owais Shah should be a very strong player, since he has the StrengthHermit and the Empress supporting him. They all emphasise the importance of Owais being in control, since this is an opportunity he shouldn’t miss put on.

Brad Hogg has a number of plans up his sleeve, which he will try to make best use of. Should be a successful day for him.

Brad Hodge will play well for the team and should put up a determined fight.

Amit Singh will need to be guided better by his captain to make the best use of opportunities and discussed plans.

Deccan Chargers

The Deccan Chargers should give Rajasthan Royals a good fight. They feel refreshed and are raring to go. They are treating this game as a new start to the IPL. Their overseas players should do well too. It will be important for the Chargers to be a bit more realistic with their plans. They too will need to be stronger with their fielding, by channelising their on-field enthusiasm better. Their bowling should be consistent and so will their batting.

Kumara Sangakara should play like a fighter – strong and adaptable. The main concern for Sangakara’s batting is the possibility of getting tangled up in his own plans. Captain Sangakara will have new ideas and would want to take charge of his team and the match.

Key players:

Dale Steyn will have many plans, which he may just be too eager to put into practice. With the right fielding support, Steyn can do well.

Ankit Sharma will be strong and should be a part of an important bowling partnership.

Shikhar Dhawan shows potential to play a strong game, but it will be important for him to not lose this self-belief.

JP Duminy, if played, will be able to make the right Judgements and can change the game around in favour of his team. He may have a slight dip in the middle of his innings, during which he will need to focus better.

Daniel Christian will thrive in his energy. He will be able to change himself according to the game, and be stable.

Cameron White, in combination with the Nine and Two of Cups will be a strong player and should do well in partnerships.

Who has the advantage?

Rajasthan Royals and Deccan Chargers are looking very equal. Strong batting, bowling and not so confident fielding. Their captains are strong and their teams are ready to play in tandem. The both have the ability to lose it for themselves and win it through their determination. Rajasthan should have more players stepping it up for them, so if I had to choose, although too close to call, I would say advantage Rajasthan Royals.
