Nevertheless, the team has able players whose individual performances have won them many appreciations. Here is the likely XI for the Afghanistan team prior to the match against England. Live Cricket Scorecard: England vs Afghanistan, ICC T20 World Cup 2016 Match 24, Super 10 Group 1 at Delhi

Top-order: The most eye-catching part of the entire Afghanistan team has to be their top-order batting. The openers, especially Mohammad Shahzad, is one name that is a threat to any bowler. He is a player well in form and has been the backbone of Afghanistan Cricket. Shahzad finds a perfect partner in Noor Ali Zadran and if the two manage to build a good partnership, the runs will easily go on to a big total. At No. 3 comes out the captain Asghar Stanikzai. Stanikzai is one of the most composed players of the side. While the rest of the batsmen add aggression to the team, the stability factor is brought in by Stanikzai. When Mohammad Shahzad’s hard-hitting cricket fails, it is Stanikzai who stays there to build up brief but significant partnerships that end up in a bulk of runs. With the top three being a good combination, the top-order look evenly balanced.

Middle-order: The middle-order looks strong with the presence of Gulbadin Naib. Though he has not been in a very good touch lately but has immense talent which reflects from his previous scores. Following Naib, comes Mohammad Nabi who also is a potential middle-order batsman and the most dependable all-rounder in the team currently. Apart from these two, there are Samiullah Shenwari and Najibullah Zadran who can hit hard in the slog overs while the bowlers down the order, like Dawlat Zadran, can also hit sixes if needed to give the scorecard a little more boost of runs.

Bowlers: The most successful bowlers for the past few months have been Mohammad Nabi and Rashid Khan for Afghanistan. Both the spinners have done exceptionally well for the team and can prove to be lethal for the opponents. Another option with the spin is Amir Hamza who has also done well of late. There is one bowler, who has been the key and has been leading the attack: Dawlat Zadran. Dawlat displayed great spells to earn a worldwide reputation with his pace action but the World T20 2016  is yet to see the best of the bowler. With limited chances left for the team, if he clicks along with experienced Shapoor Zadran, Afghanistan can earn for themselves respect with last moment victories.

Afghanistan likely XI: Mohammad Shahzad (wk), Noor Ali Zadran, Asghar Stanikzai(c), Gulbadin Naib, Mohamad Nabi, Samiullah Shenwari, Najibullah Zadran, Dawlat Zadran, Rashid Khan, Shapoor Zadran, Amir Hamza
