It was supposed to be a normal day. The sun had risen in the east and the Indian team including captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni had been served a good breakfast. So this rules out a case of transient loss of consciousness due to Hypoglycaemia because as Dhoni announced his team at the toss, the fans were stunned as there was no Amit Mishra in the side. This was shocking because Mishra had been the only bowler apart from Ravichandran Ashwin who really troubled the South African batsmen in the 1st ODI at Kanpur.

Few thought, Mishra must have taken ill as he was seen eating Gol guppas on a lorry outside the team hotel. But Dhoni’s justification was that though Mishra bowled well, he was not an adept batsman at No. 7. Coming from the mouth of Indian captain it was simply ridiculous that the team depended on Mishra’s batting skills to win the game.

Even then Dhoni wasn’t completely right. In the recent Test series against Sri Lanka, Mishra scored 157 runs at 26.16. Mishra has been shell shocked with this decision and a source from Indian dressing room confirmed the writer that he was seen dialling Sachin Tendulkar’s phone number. He requested the batting maestro to be his personal batting coach.

A dejected Mishra was heard saying, “I thought the only thing I needed to be in the team was leg spin, googlies, flights, bounce and wickets but now it seems I need to bat as well!”

Internal sources suspect that Dhoni wanted to gift Harbhajan Singh something for his upcoming wedding so he gifted him Mishra’s place in the side. Clearly, Bhajji couldn’t have asked for a better gift.

On the other hand, Shikhar Dhawan was quietly seen talking to Anil Kumble and has requested him to be his bowling coach as he fears Dhoni might drop him from the next game because of his inability to bowl as a sixth change bowler!
