Subramanian Swamy has filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) yet again. This time his target is none other than the Mukesh Ambani-owned Indian Premier League (IPL) franchisee Mumbai Indians. The PIL claims that Mumbai Indians have brought disrepute and disgrace to Indians the world over after their disastrous showing against Rajasthan Royals.
Speaking to Faking News, Subramanian Swamy explained, “Indians are from India. Indians are not property of Mumbai. Moreover they have brought shame upon Indians everywhere. If you go abroad and someone asks if you are you are an Indian, you are forced to be defensive and respond by saying, “No, I don’t support Mumbai Indians. This is sham and a disgrace, an affront against India. It’s repressive and regressive. Hence I have filed this PIL in public interest!”
Meanwhile, Arvind Kejriwal reacted to the news by saying he felt vindicated. “I said this ages ago that India is being run by Ambani. How else can you explain Mumbai calling themselves Mumbai Indians and getting away with it? Have you heard of Delhi Indians, Rajasthan Indians, Bangalore Indians, Chennai Indians, Punjabi Indians or Kolkata Indians? No, we only have Mumbai Indians. This proves that I have been right all along!” he said.
Navjot Sidhu, never lost in giving an opinion, said on Extraa Innings: “When Mumbai wins, India wins, when Mumbai Indians loses, India loses. It’s not rocket science, boss!”.
The Congress party has meanwhile responded through Digivjay Singh. Speaking exclusively to Faking News, he said: “I can clearly see a RSS [Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh] hand in this. Swamy is an RSS agent. Blue is a secular colour and we are proud of Mumbai Indians. True leadership is having courage no matter what the results, as our next Prime Minister Rahul Gandhi shows. Mumbai Indians showed that by going on the field and not bothering about the result. We stand by all teams that are secular”
Shiv Sena, in the meanwhile, has come out in support of Dr Swamy’s PIL. This has been our longstanding demand too, said Uddhav Thackeray. “We are proud Mumbaikars. The team should be renamed Mumbai Mumbaikars,” he opined.
Harbhajan Singh had the last word. He defended his team’s performance by saying that their goal was to make it large in victory or defeat.
