Mumbai Indians (MI) beat Gujarat Lions (GL) in Super-Over in match 35 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017 at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot. With this win, Mumbai share 14 points with Kolkata Knight Riders, but fall behind due to Net Run-Rate. They now need at most two more wins to confirm a berth in the playoffs. The Lions, on the other hand, have won only 3 of 9 games. All the same, this was the first game since IPL 2015 that produced a super-over. Let us have a look at the highlights. FULL CRICKET SCORECARD: GL vs MI, Match 35

The Big 3 fail: Brendon McCullum, Suresh Raina, and Aaron Finch added only 7 runs. They were back in the dugout within the batting Powerplay.

Kishan rises to the occasion: When the seniors could not ignite their firepower, Ishan Kishan took centre stage and made full use of the opportunity. He scored 48 off 35 inclusive of 6 fours and two sixes. Had he not mistimed a length ball off Harbhajan Singh, he would have scored his maiden half-century in IPL.

Jadeja’s art of direct-hitting: With the bat, Ravindra Jadeja scored 28 off 21 to keep his team on course in the middle overs. With the ball, Jadeja was not given enough opportunity against Mumbai’s big hitters. However, it was in the field that he weaved his magic. He induced two direct-hits in the last over to help his team level the scores.

Pathan has mixed emotions: When Mumbai needed 12 off the last over, Raina dropped the onus on Irfan Pathan who was playing his first match of this season. Pathan hit the wrong length, and gave a six off the very first ball. Be that as it may. He eventually managed to save his team from a certain defeat. Before that, he created a direct-hit from third-man to get his team back in the game.

Krunal takes the cake: Krunal Pandya gifted a win to captain Rohit Sharma on his birthday. He was awarded Man of the Match for his all-round performance. He took 3 for 14 in the first innings and scored a vital 29 in the second innings to keep Mumbai in the hunt.

Parthiv Patel’s day out: Parthiv Patel bludgeoned 70 off 44 with the help of 9 fours and a six. This was his first half-century and fifth 30-plus score this season.

Jasprit Bumrah, the saviour: After Mumbai set up a 12-run target in the super-over, Bumrah bowled a no-ball off the very first ball. With McCullum and Finch to take care of the proceedings, Mumbai’s chance to pull off a win seemed remote. However, Bumrah, with his slingshot action outfoxed the dangerous duo and gave Mumbai its first win in Super-Over.
