Sunrisers Hyderabad finally ended their run of three straight defeats as they got the better of IPL 2019 points table topper Chennai Super Kings on Wednesday night.
In a clinical show, they first restricted the defending champions to 132/5 before a dominating chase powered by their opening pair of David Warner and Jonny Bairstow who each scored a half-century. It was their fourth win of the season and it helped in lifting them a place up in latest IPL standings.
Before the match, they were at the sixth spot and two points behind Kolkata Knight Riders who were fifth. Following their win, SRH switched places with KKR on the basis of a better net-run rate (NRR) to claim the fifth spot now.
CSK, who lost just their second match of the ongoing season, are unmoved at the top position. They currently lead the charts with seven victories in nine matches which have helped them accumulate 14 points.
On Thursday, Delhi Capitals will host Mumbai Indians at Feroz Shah Kotla. These two teams are also separated by NRR having eight points each.
DC are second behind CSK and a win will help them close out the gap with the leaders. However, should they lose, they will swap places with MI who currently are third.
