West Indian cricketer Kieron Pollard is well known for his antics on the field. Be it his tape-on-mouth act during an Indian Premier League (IPL) match, numerous friendly banters with fellow team mate Dwayne Bravo or duels with Chris Gayle, Shane Watson and Mitchell Starc, he has managed to be in the news even on his off days for non-cricketing reasons.
His recent such act again made news, when during a Twenty20 (T20) International match against Sri Lanka earlier this month he gave a strange reaction after dismissing Tilakaratne Dilshan. He bowled a clever slower delivery to Dilshan, who was going great guns by then and had raced to his half-century.
Pollard’s delivery deceived Dilshan completely, as he went for a reverse sweep and lost his stumps in the process. An ecstatic Pollard immediately made a gesture as if he was trying to check whether any such shot existed in the batting books. Pollard took 2 wickets and scored 18-ball 27 in the losing cause as the West Indies team went down by 30 runs.
