'Sachin Tendulkar is to Indian cricket what Dhyan Chand was to Indian hockey’

When I think about Sachin Tendulkar, only three words come in my mind: Passion, focus and hard work.

What Major Dhyan Chand was to Indian hockey, Sachin Tendulkar is to Indian cricket. For almost 25 years, Tendulkar worked relentlessly towards his goals and objectives, remained focused on his goals and totally obsessed with cricket.

Sunil Gavaskar perhaps faced the best fast bowling attacks of all times, but Tendulkar was in a different league altogether. The likes of Wasim Akram and few more were as good as any other fast bowler from any era and Tendulkar played them with ease and confidence — in all forms of the game.

While Vinoo Mankad,Tiger Pataudi, Bishan Singh Bedi, Gavaskar, Kapil Dev were huge stars of Indian cricket, it was Tendulkar who made the best use of legacy those great left behind. I can’t think of any individual in any profession who has been so immensely successful.

Tendulkar’s presence in the Parliament is a huge boon for sports. I hope he gives good inputs there as he did on the cricket field.

Tendulkar’s impact on the game is unmatched and I think he will continue to be around the Indian team. The Indian cricket board will make optimum use of his experience and knowledge.
