Syed Bukhari, an employee of Blah Techonlogies Ltd., has filed a case of employee rights violation against his employer, after his leave application was rejected by his manager on the grounds that his manager didn’t believe him.

“I’ve been down with high fever since yesterday evening and I haven’t slept all night. My doctor advised rest and hence I decided to take the day off. But to my shock, my manager refused to grant me leave. Not only that, he said that he didn’t believe me and accused me of blatant lies. He further threatened to lay me off if I still flouted his order. I tried explaining to him that I really had fever and even emailed him a scanned copy of my doctor’s certificate, but the man just didn’t believe me. So I had no choice but to take legal recourse,” Bukhari told The UnReal Times.

Bukhari’s manager, Hari Sadu, however, was adamant that his reaction was justified. “Yaar, everyone knows today’s the big match day. Given that people are not even going to go to the loo when the match is on, how am I to believe this chap? So I stand by my decision and categorically refute any allegation that I was being irrational. The least he could’ve done is come to office, cough incessantly like Kejriwal and measure his temperature in front of me. Then I would’ve obviously allowed him to go home. Why, I would’ve even sponsored a naturopathy treatment for him in Bengaluru!” Sadu explained.

The liberal news media, however, had a field day, reporting the incident as yet another instance of the Modi government’s ongoing war against progress of minorities. “Was Syed denied leave because of his religion? Does his manager represent everything that’s wrong with Hinduism? Is this what we’ve come to, under Narendra Modi? Churches get attacked, Muslims denied sick leave. The very ethos of India is under grave danger,” tweeted an Adarsh liberal.

Blah, however, announced an official holiday an hour after the incident. “There’s little we can really do. Now if you’ll excuse us, we’ll talk to you later, gotta watch the match,” a representative of Blah told The UnReal Times.
