Many cricket fans perceive Gautam Gambhir and MS Dhoni to be rivals and see the latter’s role in ousting the former from the national side. While there is no validation for the above fact, one thing is for sure that the two big guns of Indian cricket go back a long way and share an interesting chemistry.

They both began banging the national doors with their outstanding feats in Nairobi for India A in 2004. Dhoni retired from Tests in December 2014 and may be Gambhir does not want his friend to miss this format! Why on earth will he employ such a field for one of the most dangerous batsmen? Though the ploy worked on Saturday night as Dhoni just managed a 23-ball 8 not out. Even Gambhir himself has not featured in Tests for almost two years now. So maybe, Gambhir wants to relive the No. 1 ranked Test team glory days with his captain.

While we will keep on speculating for our amusements but keep them coming. However, ask them individually, both will say that Test cricket is ultimate. Almost four months of rigorous T20s, miss Tests, aren’t we?

Let us see, what Gambhir has in store for India’s Test skipper and fellow Delhiite Virat Kohli at Eden Gardens tonight.
