POLL: Which new Team India face will shine on the tour of Zimbabwe?

The Indian squad for the upcoming One-Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 International (T20I) series against Zimbabwe in their backyard is full of new faces. Except MS Dhoni, there is no player who carries good amount of experience in international cricket in limited-overs format.

As expected, the Indian selectors gave chances to newcomers who played very well in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) and in domestic circuit for the Zimbabwe series. If we look at the 16-man squad, six of them have never played for India in limited-overs cricket and they are KL Rahul, Faiz Fazal, Karun Nair, Mandeep Singh, Yuzvendra Chahal and Jayant Yadav. Rahul has represented India in Tests and the rest of the five newcomers have never played any international cricket and may get the chance to make their debut. Fazal did quite well in the last Vijay Hazare Trophy tournament and was the highest run-getter for Vidarbha by scoring 312 runs at 52 in seven matches with a strike rate of 70.58. Similarly, Nair has been in the limelight since he represented Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Delhi Daredevils (DD) in 2015 and 2016 editions of IPL. He also scored a fantastic 94-run knock for Rest of the India against Mumbai in Irani Cup earlier this year.

Mandeep was very impressive in the last season of Vijay Hazare Trophy as he was the top run-getter in the tournament with 394 runs in seven matches at 65.66 with the strike rate of 88.73. Coming to the bowlers, Chahal did well in the IPL and was very consistent with his bowling throughout the tournament. Jayant Yadav is another spinner in the side who can bat a bit lower down the order. Yadav too played this season of IPL and represented DD but played only three matches. Though, he was very economical in his IPL matches with an economy rate of 4.14.

This tour may give Indian cricket team few future cricketers but it depends on how these newcomers perform. Prior to the series, who do you think among these players will shine with their performance on the tour?
