Tarot reader Shruti Chopra looks into her cards to give CricketCountry.com readers exclusive insights into what lies ahead in the IPL matches. In the below piece, she dwells into the Chennai Super Kings vs Rajasthan Royals game – the first of the two IPL matches on Saturday.

Chennai Super Kings

The Chennai Super Kings are ready to take their aggression to the next level – they wish to bat out the opposition in this game. The King and Ten of Pentacles indicate a collective effort in their batting and a few strong innings that should shine through. It will be highly important for them to pay a bit more respect to the opposition, rather than believing they can dominate and get past the Royals. Well directed aggression will be the key for the Super Kings.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni will be the aggressor in his innings, but this may be mis-directed and may not get him the type of results he’s looking for. As a captain, he may not be able to implement the right plans at the right time, instead he will need to trust his team more since their collective effort is looking more profitable than his directions.

Key players

Suresh Raina will be a balanced and calm for the most part of his innings, but he may not be able to maintain such consistency throughout the match.

Ravindra Jadeja wants to go out there and prove his worth. He will come into this game with a new resolve and should bring stability for his team.

Dwayne Bravo is looking dominant, in command and ready to make some runs. He will work hard in every area of his game and it will show.

Shadab Jakati may initially be wayward from his original plans, but the energy from his team mates will rub on to him. He will direct his bowling better in the second half of his spell.

Doug Bollinger may play an important role today. He is looking stable, focused and like the Emperor, he’s also a lot wiser in his approach.

Ravichandran Ashwin should start off well, but may get too carried away and would not be able to capitalise on this.

Francois du Plessis is strong, well planned and ready to take on the opposition. The cards do warn of over-confidence, which could lead to his wicket.

Rajasthan Royals

The Rajasthan Royals have renewed energy and great self-belief. The team exudes their captain’s traits, which may prove to be quite beneficial for them. They are growing into a stronger side and with the Hermit and the Four of Wands, they will be able to manifest all these qualities today. They will be able to build strong foundations and then take off from there towards success. Their fielding, bowling and batting all show balance, but they will need to make sure that they don’t leave the Super Kings off the hook by believing their job is done.

Rahul Dravid has the potential to play a very steady and meaninful innings. As a captain, he will be a great guiding factor for their success. He will have opportunities to make some very important and rewarding calls. The key will be his guidance, because as a team, they may feel a bit over-whelmed with the opposition.

Key players

Ajinkya Rahane will need to play a little slowly, but then will be able to take off and continue his good form. He’s got the World card which suggests that he will have the potential to shift the momentum for his team.

Ashok Menaria will work hard and have great enthusiasm. He has a good opportunity to showcase his talent and with the Sun, he should be able to do this.

Brad Hodge is being represented by the Fool and the King of Pentacles, which will mean that he will play with freedom and will be able to gain control to direct his innings at any point he wishes to.

Brad Hogg will bowl well in tandem. He has the potential to command and bring out qualities unseen by the opposition. He should have a promising day.

Pankaj Singh should be another bowler that will bowl well in partnerships. He will have the ability to take wickets at crucial times. It will be important for him to receive constant guidance from his captain.

Owais Shah will be able to build a strong and stable innings, but with the Seven of Cups, he should remind himself to remain focused as his innings develops.

Amit Singh should be another bowler who will show great promise. He too will need constant guidance from his captain.

Who has the advantage?

There’s not much in it between these teams, but Rajasthan Royals are holding advantage.
