Tarot reader Shruti Chopra looks into her cards to give CricketCountry.com readers exclusive insights into what lies ahead in the IPL matches. In the below piece, she dwells into the Rajasthan Royals vs Pune Warriors India game – the first of the two IPL matches on Sunday.

Rajasthan Royals

The Rajasthan Royals are like the Hierophant – mature and balanced. That is exactly what their game plan will be. They will work hard to accumulate runs like the Queen of Pentacles, yet be aware of their short comings. The fear, represented by the Nine of Swords explains their apprehensions and loss of confidence from time to time, which with the help of the Knight of Pentacles, they will be able to stabilise.

Rahul Dravid will start off looking quite edgy while batting, but he will overcome this with passage of his innings. He will be like the Strength – in good control of his batting. As a captain, he will be encouraging and like the Hermit, he will make some strong and wise decisions.

Key players

Ajinkya Rahane will be steady like the Three of Pentacles and be able to dominate through his batting. A good day for him.

Shane Watson has grown wiser and will be able to show this through the command he will have over his game. Like the Two of Cups, he will be involved in a strong partnership.

Shaun Tait will initially look confused, before he will gain stability and perform well. Overall, he will make up for his inconsistency.

Brad Hodge will play a firm game. His batting will add to the team’s stability and be part of an important innings.

Johan Botha will have a shaky start, but his experience and his application will allow him to overcome this phase. The Eight of Pentaclesdoes show rewards for his hard work.

Ankeet Chavan will have a good day with the ball. He will be economical and receive success for such bowling.

Pune Warriors India

The Pune Warriors are well represented by the High Priestess and the Eight of Pentacles. They will have the ability to showcase their potential, but not without putting in immense hard work. They will need to grab on to this opportunity as they will have the tendency to become too soft. They will need to be wary of inconsistent fielding efforts.

Steve Smith will have many ideas and may in fact be over thinking his batting. He will realise this and like the Five of Wands, showcase an aggressive innings. As a captain he will be ready to experiment and take a few risks, which will work in Pune’s favour.

Key players

Michael Clarke will be like the Moon – aggressive and calculative on the field and in his batting. His experience will prove vital.

Robin Uthappa will be well planned and will look to command his innings. He should look to play a more realistic innings, unlike the Page of Cups.

Jesse Ryder should be played, as he will provide the team with a strong and mature start. Although, like the Hanged Man, he may stagnate towards the end.

Mithun Manhas is another player that should be played, as he is like the Star. He will have the ability to help the team recover from a sticky situation. A good day for him.

Angelo Mathews will have the ability to make his potential count, but unfortunately, with the Tower card, he will struggle to maintain a level headed approach.

Rahul Sharma will come with a new resolve to be a balanced and strong bowler. He will, have a good day like the Sun.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar will have a good start, but will need to remain calm as he will have a dip in his spell.

Who holds the advantage?

Rajasthan Royals
