Ravindra Jadeja called “Sir” by teammates during Indian Premier League (IPL) 2013

During the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2013, Ravindra Jadeja was suddenly bestowed with the title of ‘Sir’ by his teammates. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni also referred to Jadeja as ‘sir’ in his tweets which became a rage on Twitter. It followed with several Sir Ravindra Jadeja jokes and memes. A Twitter handle with the same name was started and it stands with a huge following till date.

Many jokes were fashioned around famous personalities Chuck Norris and Rajinikanth. Once Indian one-day captain MS Dhoni tweeted a joke relating why Jadeja was given the title of sir, “Sir jadeja was upset abt only 1 t20 match in a bilateral series so BCCI came up with the idea of IPL. so all the fans of IPL plz thank SRJ.” Jadeja’s fame only increased as he pulled off a couple of great wins for CSK and then went on to play a crucial role in India’s victory at the ICC Champions Trophy 2013.
