Ricky Ponting retires from international cricket

Following two tough outings, Ponting announced that the third Test at Perth was to be his last.

Ricky Ponting is the second batsmen to score the most runs in Test cricket. He has played 168 matches and had an average of 51.85. He has scored 41 hundreds in his international Test career.

 

During the homes series against South Africa in December 2012, Ponting called it a day from international cricket.

 

Following two tough outings, Ponting announced that the third Test at Perth was to be his last.

 

Though Ponting has been one player who has tormented India, he remained a popular cricketing figure.
