Sachin Tendulkar has been the face of the Mumbai Indians since its inception. For six seasons he has been Mumbai’s batting mainstay. It was envisaged to be young man’s game. It seemed senior members of the team had to race against the clock to improve the fitness and also come up a few shots hitherto unseen in the conventional form of cricket. A boundary meant a carnival-like atmosphere in the stands; a six ensured your entry in the list of batsmen who could turn the game on its head. Yet conventional strokeplay was effective, it made the people realise cricket needn’t be slam-bang.

Sachin Tendulkar is amongst those who have carved a niche for themselves in the Twenty20 format and he is still exploring newer ways to score runs albeit this is his final assignment with the Mumbai Indians franchise.

Tendulkar has scored a century for Mumbai Indians against Kochi Tuskers Kerala in 2010 aged 38. He has scored 14 half-centuries and one ton for Mumbai.
