Sachin Tendulkar, unarguably the world’s most popular cricketer has enshrined his name one more time in record books. Although the cricketer has retired but he still continues his foray in records. However, he has achieved this record not with the cricket bat but by his autobiography ‘Playing It My Way’. According to Limca Book of Records’ official website, the hard copy of the autobiography has broken all sales records for an adult hardback. ‘Playing It My Way’ has surpassed the sales of other adult hard cover books like JK Rowling’s Casual Vacancy, Dan Brown authored Inferno and Walter Isaacson’s Steve Jobs. On the first day of the book’s release, the sales sky rocketed in both pre-order and lifetime sales of Casual Vacancy, Inferno and Steve Jobs. Playing It My Way, which is co-authored by Boria Majumdar encapsulates the life of Tendulkar very vividly; some incidents of his life which were hidden from the public and never came on the surface. A thing needs to stressed here is that the record is specifically for adult hard cover books covering both fiction and non-fiction.
Earlier in November last year, former Indian captain Kapil Dev had refused to comment on Tendulkar‘s claim in ‘Playing It My Way’ that despite being one of the finest Indian all-rounders of all time, the former skipper was disappointing as a coach and said it was Tendulkar’s “personal opinion”. Tendulkar had opined that in his autobiography. “That’s his opinion. Everyone has a right to give his opinion and I respect everybody’s opinion. Good luck to him for his endeavour,” Kapil had replied, when asked about Tendulkar’s remark in his book about his style of coaching.
