Tarot reader Shruti Chopra looks into her cards to give CricketCountry.com readers exclusive insights into what lies ahead in the IPL matches. In the below piece, she dwells into the Deccan Chargers vs Pune Warriors India game – the first  of the two IPL matches on Tuesday.

Deccan Chargers

The Eight of Cups reflects the sense of disappointment the Deccan Chargers carry. They are striving to attain stability in their game and will work hard to achieve this. They should be wary of being impulsive in their decision making and not carry an unrealistic approach like the Page of Cups. The positive come from the King of Wands, which shows their ability to adapt and put up a strong fight.

Kumar Sangakkara shouldn’t sit out today as he will be an important player. His batting, like the Knight of Pentacles will be steady and strong. As a captain, he will find himself making some tough and independent decisions. The Three of Pentacles shows him being creative with his game plans and confidently implementing them.

Key players

Dale Steyn will physically and mentally be tired, but the Eight of Wands keeps him charged up. He will fight hard today. The Death card shows the importance of the changes he will manifest.

Cameron White will try to maintain balance, but will have too many ideas floating around and wouldn’t feel confident with executing his responsibilities.

JP Duminy, like the Emperor, be strong, dominant and in control with his batting. A good day for him on the field as well.

Shikhar Dhawan will put up a fight. The Five and King of Wands projects his aggression and ability to adapt himself.

Parthiv Patel although wise about his game plan, but will feel the responsibility weighing strongly on his shoulders. The Hermit shows that as long as he builds his innings, he will succeed – otherwise any impulsiveness will be a problem.

Amit Mishra will have many ideas and will continue fighting, but will lack the focus needed today.

Pune Warriors India

The Seven of Wands, the World and the Judgement card grace the Pune Warriors. They are ready to put themselves on top, command and actively take charge of the game. They will work very hard and put up a fight against the Chargers. The Warriors will adapt themselves well and be able to remain composed.

Sourav Ganguly has great renewed energy and will be part of a good batting partnership. He should be careful of not experimenting too much with his shot selection. His captaincy is being depicted by the Lovers card. He will be a strong, encouraging and active captain. He will direct his team well.

Key players:

Jesse Ryder, after a wave of initial impulsiveness, will play a controlled innings, building a strong platform for the team.

Steve Smith will be one of Pune’s strongest players today. Like the Chariot, he will be strong, dominant and adaptable.

Ashish Nehra will start off giving away too many runs, but will regain his control well.
