Steven Smith became the first player in the history of international cricket to score centuries in captaincy debut in both the formats and eighth to do in ODIs, Bharath Seervi lists the others.
In ODIs, before Steven Smith, seven others scored a century in their first innings as captain. Glenn Turner was the first to do so. He scored an unbeaten 171 when he captained for the first time in the World Cup 1975. It was the highest individual ODI score until Kapil Dev scored 175 not out in World Cup 1983 and it remained the highest individual score by a captain in ODIs until Viv Richards smashed 181 in 1987.
Others to have scored centuries on captaincy debut in ODIs are Richie Richardson, Sachin Tendulkar, Sanath Jayasuriya, Irving Romaine, Mike Hussey and Gavin Hamilton. The table below has the other details. Romaine and Hussey did not bat in their first match as captain, but scored hundreds in their debut innings.
