Virat Kohli has got a lot of flak for his allowing his love life to come in the middle of his cricketing pursuits. In England he was criticized for tagging along his girlfriend Anushka Sharma when his form had hit rock bottom. Again, he was roundly criticised — mainly by the social media — for getting his Anusukha to Australia ahead of India’s crucial World Cup semi-final against Australia, a match in which he flopped and India lost.
The latest flak he got was for meeting Anushka during a rain interruption in the Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Delhi Daredevils match on Sunday, which did not please the Board of Control for Cricket in India. Apparently, he has been ‘informally warned’ for breaching the rules.
“We shouldn’t blow the thing out of proportion, but I have spoken to him and told him he shouldn’t speak to anyone when technically the match is still on,” IPL chairman Rajiv Shukla told India today. “At the Chinnaswamy [stadium], there is only a partition between the VIP enclosure and the players area and hence he may have spoken. If the ACSU [Anti-Corruption and Security Unit] officials inform us, we will definitely warn him but I have already informally spoken to him and told him not to do this,” Shukla added. The (ACSU) doesn’t permit players to meet girlfriends and wives while a game is on.
