Xavier Doherty (left) is an Australian bowler who made his One-Day International (ODI) debut against Sri Lanka at Melbourne in 2010 and in the same year played his first Test against England at Brisbane. A left-arm spinner, he has played 60 ODIs and four Tests and has picked up 55 wickets and seven wickets respectively.
After a dream ODI debut against Sri Lanka, where he picked up four wickets, Doherty has been the mainstay spinner for the Australian team. Due to his good performances in the limited-over format, he was awarded with the Test cap and replaced Nathan Hauritz, but he struggled to make an impact at the highest level. Being a regular figure in the ODI team, Doherty missed the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup with a back injury. However, he got a chance to play the 2015 World Cup squad, which Australia won but he wasn’t played in all games.
In 2009-10, he won the Ricky Ponting medal as Tasmania’s Player of the Year for his solid showing in all the formats and plays for Tasmania and Hobart Hurricanes.
Doherty’s doppelganger on the right is Wojciech Szczesny, a Polish goalkeeper who plays for Arsenal in the Barclays Premier League. Szczesny started his career in Poland with Legia Warsaw and in 2006, joined Arsenal’s youth team.
