Asian Games 2014: Indian women make it to volleyball quarters

Indian women spikers stormed into the quarter-finals with a comprehensive 3-0 victory.

Indian women spikers stormed into the quarter-finals with a comprehensive 3-0 victory over the Maldives at the 17th Asian Games on Friday. India won 25-12, 25-7, 25-11 in 54 minutes at the Ansan Sangroksu Gymnasium here.

They raced away to a comfortable lead from the beginning of the match. Tiji Raju top scored for India with 16 points. India take on China in the last eight clash on Saturday.

The 17th Asian Games, which will be held from September 19th  to October 4th2014 will be held in Incheon, South Korea, which will host an event for the second time in the 21stcentury after Busan played hosts in 2002. The official slogan of the games will be ‘diversity shines here’. Overall, there will be 49 venues and 48 training facilities across the city of Incheon. The administrators have built 10 new stadiums and country have spend around USD 1.6 Billion.
