A memento worth Rs 2 lakh, presented to Sachin Tendulkar’s mother and received by the maestro and his elder brother Nitin on her behalf, was found after being initially suspected of being stolen during a programme held at Bandra’s Rang Sharda Auditorium.
Tendulkar released a CD of poems written by his late father, Ramesh Tendulkar, at the programme which Tendulkar’s mother could not attend because of health issues.
Apparently, there was some misunderstanding which led everyone to believe that the memento was stolen. It is learnt that Tendulkar and Nitin accepted the memento, after which his elder brother had kept it aside amid boxes of CDs. It so happened that a guest, who had been presented with a CD, picked up the memento by mistake.
The ordeal was over when the person after seeing the media reports about missing memento returned it to the organisers.
