South African batsman AB de Villiers on Sunday broke the record of fastest One-Day International (ODI) century when he smashed a hundred from just 31 balls in the 2nd ODI against West Indies.

De Villiers went past the previous record of 36-ball century set by the New Zealand all-rounder Corey Anderson. Earlier, the right-handed batsman broke the fastest ODI half-century record, that was set by Sanath Jayasuriya, 19 years back. De Villiers’ fifty came off just 16 balls.

De Villiers was later dismissed by Andre Russell, but by then had scored 149 from just 44 balls, in an innings that contained nine fours and 16 sixes.
