Former Pakistan cricketer Abdul Qadir advised all-rounder Shahid Afridi to call it a day from cricket and also criticised batsman Umar Akmal for his own faults. Qadir believes that Umar lost his spot in the Pakistan national team because of his own mistakes. At a function in Lahore, Qadir said that Afridi is too old to compete in top level cricket. Afridi was in good form in the recently concluded T20 World Cup after which he stepped down as a skipper but wished to continue as a player.  Watch: What Indian ‘Paul Adams’ Shivil Kaushik does before bowling his first ball

Qadir was quoted in a report from PTI saying, “I don’t think cricket is any longer the forte of Afridi and he should say goodbye.” He also spoke on Ahmed Shehzad’s axing and his son-in-law Akmal’s exclusion from the list of probables for the tour to England. “To me Shehzad is simply more of an actor than a cricketer while Umar Akmal has lost his place in the team because of his own mistakes,” Qadir said. Video: Jason Holder gives Arijit Singh a run for his money; sings ‘Meri Aashiqui Ab Tum Hi Ho’

Qadir criticised the aura of culturism and nepotism in Pakistan and on this he said, “This culture has destroyed the fabrics of our sports and particularly cricket. In every department in the Pakistan cricket board they are people who have been appointed because of favoritism and nepotism. Najam Sethi who heads the executive committee also came in because of the prime minister.”
