Following the BCCI’s rule, the couple have been away from each other since the beginning of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, but that didn’t stop Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma lashing out at many of the fans who have blamed her for Indian One-Day International (ODI) vice-captain Virat Kohli’s poor performances.

“I don’t want to take credit for his (Kohli’s) performance nor be blamed for his poor performance. My relationship with the person has nothing to do with my profession or the person’s profession,” said Anushka in an interview with NDTV.

On questioned about the restrictions imposed by the cricket board on WAGs, Anushka denied any knowledge on what prompted them to take such a decision but spoke her mind on this and called the talks of ‘distraction’, a ‘primitive’ mind-set. (ICC Cricket World Cup 2015: Points Table)

“I don’t like the term ‘distraction.’ Why is it that person being viewed as a distraction? Why can’t the person be strength to somebody, a supporter, a morale booster. Why is it a distraction? Because you are attaching a physical relationship? I find it extremely primitive,” said Anushka.

Earlier she said that in India, it’s very quick to judge a girl like it is time for her to get married and not treat them as professionals.

She also defended Kohli as well as his teammates, suggesting that people should learn to treat the cricketers as adults and pay respect to their private lives and profession.

“These guys (Indian cricketers) eat and breathe Cricket. Please treat them as adults,” the actress added.

Kohli and Anushka have come out in the open and don’t hide the fact that they are seeing each other but prefer to keep their personal lives private. Recently, the Indian star batsman was reprimanded by the board for misidentifying a journalist and abusing someone else for writing an article about Anushka.
