While the Indian media glorified Kohli quite aptly, writing wonderful pieces on his batting which was poetry in motion, the Australian media too were full of praises for the Indian Test captain.

On Sunday, when Virat Kohli was steering India to a famous win over Australia in Mohali and a semi-final spot at the ICC World T20, the media world over was going gaga about him. While the Indian media glorified the man quite aptly, writing wonderful pieces on his batting which was poetry in motion, the Australian media too were full of praises for the Indian Test captain, as reported by PTI.

“One man wins it,” expressed The Daily Telegraph’s Ben Horne while describing his thoughts on the match which saw Australia’s hopes of a World T20 title being dashed. He further added, “I think it’s safe to say there is no talent in world cricket at the moment quite like Virat Kohli.” Australian skipper Steve Smith had dubbed the special knock by Kohli as the ‘Virat Show’ after the match.

England-born Australian journalist Gideon Haigh wrote for The Australian newspaper that Kohli’s unbeaten 82 off 51 balls had “made an awkward chase look like simplicity itself”. “Not a stroke, by the way, would have looked out of place in a Test match. Much as the marketers would like to take the cricket out of T20, Kohli keeps putting it back,” wrote Haigh.

Geoff Lemon, writing for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, said it was hard to feel disappointed at being knocked out by such an impressive innings. “It is hard to feel anything but awe,” he wrote. Not only journalists, but former cricketing greats from Down Under also heaped accolades on the Delhi dasher. While his knock reminded the king of spin Shane Warne of his friend Sachin Tendulkar, Australia’s World Cup-winning former captain Michael Clarke said: “Looked like a class performance from @imVkohli#T20WorldCup”.
